Day 5

Enjoyed spending the day with my Middle School Classes. Had a healthy lunch of grilled chicken with a little bbq sauce on 2 pieces of whole wheat toast and a bunch of okra. (Did I mention I really like okra? lol) Later I had the Great Value mixed fruit for a snack and an atomic fire ball... Gotta have a little sweetness sometime! Loving this lifestyle, I've already lost a bit of weight but I'm weighting for Sunday for my official weigh in which I will post. My clothes are already starting to feel a little bigger and I can tell I've lost in my stomach. Life is great under control. I'm controlling food; it is not controlling me. Last night, I got the sale ads and wrote down what is on sale and where. Walmart matches competitor's prices so I don't have to run all over town to get the best prices on the healthy foods I like. I will shop this weekend. However, I still have shrimp and chicken and quinoa and fruit. I won't really have to buy a whole lot. It pays to eat at home!

Too I mentioned how Suze Orman compares saving money to losing weight and it is true. Saving money is sort of like watching every empty calorie we spend on crap. We have to do what is good for ourselves and our bodies. Just like every penny counts and it is the senseless spending that keeps us from being economically sound, it is the empty calories we eat that make us fat. I choose to be healthy in all areas of my life.

Day 4

Had Starkist Tuna Sweet and Spicy for lunch and the Cracked pepper Triscuits for lunch. For dinner, Mike broiled lamb chops and I had that with quinoa and okra as well as 2 pieces of whole wheat bread. It is weird because I am not starving all the time. When I eat nourishing foods, my blood levels remain level and I don't need to eat as much. All is well! Here's to eating healthy!

Day 3

Had a BUSY day today but things are going well today on my way to losing 100 pounds. For lunch, I munched on okra, grilled chicken and quinoa. It made for a hearty lunch. Came home and had a Lean Cuisine and 2 slices of whole wheat toast. I am not stressing over what I am eating and someone may have concerns about nutrition. I refuse to scrutinize my diet. As long as I am eating healthy, that is all that matters to me!

Day 2

I went yesterday and bought plenty of foods that I enjoy at Walmart and only spent 95.00 which also included 10.00 worth of hair products. Not bad!! Here are the foods I like....... but wait, wait, wait.... let me back up. This is what I do to lose weight and hopefully it will help you: 1. I eat stone ground whole grain carbs. or the closest thing I can find to it. I stick to it; if it is not brown, I toss it. Examples include: whole wheat tortillas, oatmeal, bread, wild rice and I'm going to try quinoa which I picked up for 4.88 because I keep hearing of its health benefits. It "contains more high quality protein than any other grain and stands alone as a complete protein grain."
2. I eat very "clean" proteins such as baked chicken, fish, crab meat, shrimp, Starkist Flavored Tunas and low fat milk products such as skim milk, Greek Yogurt, low fat cheese, cottage cheese. 3. I eat all the fruit and vegetables I want. My favorites are okra baked in the oven with a little vinegar to cut the slime! I also LOVE cauliflower steamed with beef bullion and then "mashed" in the food processor. Tastes even BETTER than mashed potatoes!!! I can't live without onions either. Love them!! 4. And finally, our bodies NEED fats. I stick with canola oil, extra virgin olive oil, avocados and I Can't Believe It's Not Butter whenever I need a butter fix. So that is the basics of my diet. I don't want to bore you with the Boca and veggie Burgers and the frozen Ezekiel bread that is so healthy it is actually a protein - but I guess I just did. :-) Whatever foods you enjoy eating, whatever new healthy foods you learn to love, buy them and keep them around; make them your lifestyle and see the weight fall off!!

Since I did share the foods I enjoy... here is what was for lunch and dinner today! Coffee, Butternut Squash Ravioli by Lean Cuisine, Strawberries, and Dannon Greek yogurt. For dinner, I had leftover vegetable burrito minus the burrito and cheese. It contained a small amount of beans and rice and vegetables. I put 2 small corn tortillas with it although Mike saved me 2 flour ones. I think corn is a little healthier. I am ready to get this weight OFF!! And no Mike, I'm not making cookies! lol. Love you!

I'm a teacher and I have a long day tomorrow. I made myself a smoothie with the Great Value mixed fruit, vanilla soy milk, 3 packs of Activa and a teaspoon of vanilla. It came out great in the food processor. It was delicious and made plenty! I then baked 6 pieces of chicken with a little salt and pepper as well as whole okra. This should last me 2-3 days. The quinoa was very easily cooked on the stove and tastes delicious. I'm ready for tomorrow. I put some fruit in a baggy to thaw in the refrigerator and I'm good to go! Here's to YOUR health!

Why Did I Choose the Walmart Lifestyle?

I live about a mile from a Walmart and I figure lots of people have one nearby. Simply put, loosing weight doesn't have to be hard, difficult or expensive. Anyone can do it if you decide to invest in yourself. I am choosing to be healthy and want to do this with followers who want the same. I will be posting my shopping list and recipes as well as how I'm doing on my way to losing 100 pounds. Why? Because I want to be healthy. I'm tired of going in a room feeling like the fattest person there. I want to shop in the regular section of a store where they have 'normal' pretty clothes. Plus, I have the most wonderful boyfriend in the world and he deserves a girlfriend who feels sexy! How do I know this will work? I was living a healthy lifestyle before I met him and lost 65 pounds. It seemed almost effortless. I bought healthy foods that I enjoyed tremendously and ate whenever I wanted to as long as it was healthy and I was hungry. I really didn't exercise for the first 6 months and still, the weight fell off! I gradually added walking and lost even more. When I met Mike, I was delighted he loved to cook and not always what I knew I should be eating. (Homemade pretzels, barbecue, potato salad and Italian food) were some of his best recipes. Since I was eating all this delicious food, I was back to my old habit of stuffing myself with whatever tasted good with no regards to my health. And I ate more than I should have of the wrong foods and gained back around 35 pounds of the 65 I had lost. It is my own fault. I overindulged. However, I KNOW what I need to do to lose it and maintain it. I don't want to be the girl who neglects herself because her boyfriend likes to cook. It is my fault, not his and he is encouraging this endeavor. So if you want to join me, I encourage you to think about healthy foods you love and embrace this healthy lifestyle as well!
